About
Mathieu Ruel
"Through his unique creations, Ruel manages to transpose in a very personal way, an impression of the sacred, a deep, even spiritual intimacy. The characters are the vectors of this particular energy emitted by the light and dark contrasts where light becomes a subject in itself. The artist thus leaves plenty of room for the viewer to appropriate the emotion they will feel, like a divine revelation."

Biography
Born in Beloeil (Quebec, Canada) in 1990, the painter Mathieu Ruel developed a strong interest in the visual arts very early on. Self-taught and curious by nature, Mathieu likes to discover new mediums. At a very young age, he perfected his drawing technique and doodled human bodies in movement in all his school notebooks.
Between 2009 and 2014, he took on his first professional challenge by working in the emergency services. It is first as a volunteer firefighter and then as an ambulance driver that he will be confronted with direct contact with life, death and modern medicine. These themes, moreover, constantly recur in his artistic practice. Mathieu then chose to redirect his career to make a living from his artistic creations. So, in 2014, he became a tattoo artist. This experience offers him the opportunity to reconnect with creation and give free rein to his imagination. He learned this new profession on his own, but will follow private training in cinema special effects which will complement his new skills.
In 2017, continuing his extraordinary professional career, Mathieu Ruel's artistic and inventive skills led him to found an innovative medical simulation company in the creation of artificial limbs and organs. The company will be sold in 2021, which will allow him to devote himself entirely to his artistic career. Creation has always been a pillar in his life. Drawing on his entrepreneurial experience in the medical world, Ruel was trained by Michelle Gerrior, a mentor in traditional shamanic healing, and is now able to offer energetic healing. This training was a pivotal moment in his life. Spirituality having always been part of his daily life, it is a way for the artist to give it meaning and transmit it concretely. Multiplying different mediums, it is with his revealing vision of the universal and energetic connections of the invisible that he creates his paintings.
“If you think, you are.
If you imagine, you create.
Dream or reality, if you created it, it is very real.
Physically or energetically, the effect is there.
Your body and your mind don’t know the difference.”
